Conversion is not only a spiritual and emotional journey. At Ohel Sarah Imenu, it also requires an intensive, lengthy period of study in Jerusalem, requiring conversion candidates to leave their homes, jobs, friends, and family to live in student dormitories. It often happens that when someone decides to step out of the ordinary, to become extra-ordinary, he or she encounters resistence. Overcoming that resistence takes as many forms as does the resistance itself.

Students at Ohel Sarah Imenu often encounter external resistence from family and friends who have not yet chosen to become extra-ordinary. Internal resistence comes from the struggles not only to cope with the external resistance but also to change a lifetime of habits and thought patterns and learn the necessary material.

Coping with all the forms of resistence usually requires financial resources that are often out of reach for our students.
